About
I’m Jonas Porombka, a field recordist, sound artist and sound designer from Essen, Germany. In my work, I focus primarily on sonic relationships between nature, humans and machines.
Much of my work begins in the open field, with a recorder and a set of microphones: forests, meadows, urban areas or industrial sites. I am interested in how these soundscapes change over time and what they reveal about the human influence on our environment.
On my travels to remote natural areas, I am always fascinated by how beautiful nature sounds and how worthy it is of protection. I try to incorporate these observations and experiences into my work and draw attention to them.
